FBCNN Youth Alive

On fire for Jesus

Welcome to the website of the Youth Ministry of First Baptist Church Newport News. Our logo expresses our desire that through our relationships and activities we challenge our youth: SERVICES AND SUNDAY SCHOOL

SUNDAY SCHOOL – Sundays 9:45 am – 10:45 am

Sunday mornings begin with all youth (grades 6 to 12) gathered together for a brief time of fellowship, sharing, and reflection. Youth then break into grade specific groups for a time of in-depth Bible study. These studies are Bible based and engaging. Our teachers are devoted and experienced in making the Bible come alive as they strive to show scripture to be exciting and relevant for today’s youth, their culture, and today’s life encounters.

YOUTH WORSHIP AND ACTIVITIES – Wednesday 6:45 pm – 7:25 pm

Worship is a central focus of our faith journey as Christians. Our Wednesday night service is designed as an entry point for our youth to invite their friends. It is an exciting time of youth led worship geared for youth in grade 6 to 12. Our Youth Praise team provides leadership in our contemporary music followed by a clear message from God’s word that allows youth to celebrate God in their lives.

Sunday School Bible Study

SUNDAY, September 5 is promotion Sunday. We will meet in the Youth Assembly Room after which everyone will go to their new SS classes.

Upcoming Bible Studies:

The Youth Ministry is currently using KNOWN for our Sunday Morning Bible Study. This is a comprehensive strategy for spiritual development. There are three components to this study:

Know - Upward Development in our relationship to God.

Own - Inward Development of ourself.

Known - Outward Development in our relationship to others.

DOES THIS LOOK FAMILIAR? It should. This study emphasizes the three parts of our Youth Ministry Mission Statement: UP, OUT, WITHIN.

August 15 - September 5 - Value of Life - MVP: Most Valuable Player - Sports teams award the Most Valuable Player for their significant contribution to the success of the team. You are an MVP as well, a Masterpiece of a LOVING GOD who created you for great things.

September 12 - October 3 - Leadership: Lead, Follow, or Get Out of the Way. What is leadership and how do we demonstrate a biblical model of leadership?  Leadership being able to influence others. It can be positive or negative. How do you show leadership to your friends, at school, or at home?

Sunday Morning Bible study every Sunday at 9:45 AM in the Youth Assembly Room located on the second floor of the Education Wing.
